PLAYA SOSUA -the most popular public beach in Sosua, is nestled in the Bay of Sosua, protected from most winds and seas, this is an excellent spot for snorkeling, banana boating, swimming and laying on the wide open horseshoe shaped beach.  There are many vendors for food, souvenirs and drinks along the topside of the beach walkway. Hugging a crescent-shaped bay, Sosúa is a beautiful stretch of golden sand contrasting against deep azure-turquoise waters with a white, sandy bottom. It’s also a diver and snorkeler favorite, with easy access to a wide array of sites near shore.

Grand Laguna Beach

Backed by a resort of the same name, Grand Laguna Beach lays approximately 2 miles from the beach town of Sosua on the northern coast of Dominican Republic. Though Grand Laguna may not be among the most secluded beaches of the country, it offers just enough privacy and serenity for you to enjoy a perfect beach vacation.

The turquoise-colored beach has a slight slope and is surrounded by tan-colored sand, light greenery, and rock-strewn edges. The water at the beach is not too rough but not too gentle, just about perfect for plenty of excitement around the area.

Grand Laguna is well-liked by families as well as couples. Since the beach is in a popular area, you may want to avoid visiting during public holidays and weekends if you don’t want to see too many people on your beach holiday.

Visit the city of Montecristi and enjoy a place which is not full of tourists in the Dominican Republic
Visit Montecristi, the capital city of Montecristi province, during your holidays in the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. For the tourists it is an unknown city, because it is not included in touristic routes. Nevertheless, it is the entrance to the National Park of Montecristi. Other attractions of the city are its warm temperatures and solitary beaches.

It was founded in 1506 by Nicolás de Ovando. In 1606, the “Havocs of Osorio” took place, they consisted in the progressive depopulation of the area and the transfer of its inhabitants to other of the country’s regions closer to Santo Domingo. This was motivated by the increase in illegal trading and smuggling with foreign pirates, who had the permission of the Spanish authorities.

The city of Montecristi welcomes visitors and offers relax on its beaches and splendid nature, away from the most touristic areas.

La Sousa

With plush seaside resorts, open-air bars and restaurants, tourist-oriented shops, and flea markets, Sosua Beach is the most happening thing about the town of Sosua. The bustling beach scene attracts visitors from all around the country and the world.

Sosua Beach is approximately 20 minutes from Puerto Plata and is highly popular among families. A coral reef surrounds the crescent beach making it a great spot for snorkelers and early swimmers as well.

Glistening golden sands, clear blue waters, and a vivid variety of shops and restaurants lining the shore make the surrounding ambiance lively and fun.

Lounge chairs and umbrellas can be rented. Unfortunately, there aren’t any public restrooms but the restaurants and bars around the area are easily accessible. Rental shops provide snorkeling gear and equipment.

If you wish to avoid the crowd, come here for a breakfast picnic or an early-morning swim

Playa Alicia

PLAYA ALICIA-Isolated yet close to the bustling center of Sosúa, Playa Alicia is one of the DR’s most recent beaches, formed over the last decade from sand shifting over to this location. Also known as the “miracle beach,” its ultra-wide, blond stretch sits below a couple of restaurants and cafés, but there are no other developments or vendors directly on the beach. It’s a great place for a quiet swim and to catch a vibrant sunset.
There are many resorts and communities that have their own private beach in the township of Sosua, such as, Casa Marina Beach Resort, Hotel Playa Laguna, Sosua Ocean Village, Sea Horse Ranch, among the most popular and Perla Marina offering a public beach area with cabana rentals and great food.

Playa Cabarete

It is the most important area. It is perfect to practise windsurf. PLAYA CABARETE
A mecca for water sports lovers, this beach is famous for its favorable conditions for doing kitesurfing, windsurfing, and surfing due to its warm waters and consistent winds. In addition to being one of the most famous beaches in the entire Dominican Republic for water sports, Cabarete Beach is a beautiful place which is equally as appealing for its crystal clear turquoise waters. Likewise, the town of Cabarete is a destination with numerous entertainment options, especially for young people, as it has a variety of bars and clubs.

Kite Beach

It is located 2 km away from Cabarete, and it is famous for its strong winds and big waves, which are perfect to practise kitesurf and surf.

La Boca

This area is 7 km away from Cabarete, and it is unique to practise wakeboard.

Playa Cambiaso

Located very close to the town of Luperón, in the west of Puerto Plata province, this beach is considered one of the best in all of the Dominican Republic. This little-known virgin beach features fine golden sand and is lined with coconut trees. Getting to this beach is not easy as it’s only accessible via dirt roads full of potholes, but it’s worth the effort. It’ll surely be one of the most beautiful sights you’ll see on your trip.
